Why would we choose a legals-only ceremony?
Some couples simply want to be legally married without having a traditional wedding ceremony. You might be planning a larger celebration later, prefer something very private, or simply not feel the need for a formal ceremony. A legals-only ceremony lets you take care of the legal side in a straightforward, low-key way.

Can someone else conduct our ceremony?
Yes. If you have a friend, family member or other person you would like to lead your ceremony, they can still do that even if they aren't authorised to legally solemnise a marriage. I can be there to take care of the legal requirements, including the required legal wording and documentation, while your chosen person conducts the personal or ceremonial parts.

What do we need to do before the ceremony?
Before you can get married, there is some legal paperwork to complete, including the Notice of Intended Marriage. I'll explain what is required, help make sure the necessary paperwork is completed and guide you through the steps leading up to your ceremony.

Who needs to be there?
You'll need to have the two of you, your celebrant and two witnesses who are at least 18 years old. Your witnesses can be family members, friends or other people you choose. If you want the day to be very private, your witnesses can simply be there for the legal part of the ceremony.

What actually happens on the day?
I'll guide you through the legal ceremony, including the required legal wording and the declarations you need to make to each other. You'll make your legal vows, sign the marriage documents with your witnesses and complete the process with your celebrant. The ceremony can be short, relaxed and focused on the two of you.
